Last week the Savvy Sisters sounded off about eBooks – what defines the medium and how to use them to your best advantage. This week we are sharing some links to great examples on the web.

I LOVE eBooks. I see that my Savvy Sisters have identified some of my favorites below (B2B Blogging eBook - Basics, Best Practices...and Blunders, The eBook eBook, and B2B Email Marketing Best Practices), but here are some others that I turn to for inspiration:

The Content Marketing Workbook and The B2B Marketing Manifesto: Velocity is one of my favorite sources for eBooks. While both of these pieces require registration, the are great examples that combine great content and design.

The Content Makreting Playbook: Here are 42 ideas on content you can create. Useful, easy-to digest info with a lot of samples.

What Matters Now: Seth Godin developed this eBook featuring 70 "big thinkers" who each shared their idea of what to think about in 2010. A great example of a crowd-sourced eBook.

  • The B2B Blogging eBook - Basics, Best Practices...and Blunders, produced by MLT creative as a follow-up to a joint Webinar presented by Mark W. Schaefer of {grow}. I love the design of this eBook - it's highly readable, engaging, and informational. It's a great introduction to the ins and outs of corporate blogging.
  • The Eloqua Social Media Playbook provides a fairly in-depth overview of various social platforms along with starter steps and tactical how-tos. The content is laid out in easy-to-digest chunks and accompanied by quirky graphics that lighten up the material and add some visual interest.

In addition to The eBook eBook, by Johnathan Kranz, examples of well executed eBooks include:

  • Dow Jones Taxonomy Folksonomy Cookbook -- This eBook features a really fun design and offers a refreshing – and easy-to-understand – exploration of the topic of enterprise metadata. First launched in June 2008, the eBook was downloaded more than 1,600 times and pumped 50 solid business opportunities into the sales pipeline by 2009.
  • Email Best Practices -- While Proteus Marketing requires registration to download this eBook, you can check out a sample section before registering. The eBook features a clean design and lots of useful information.
  • 7 Things Every CEO Should Know About Information Security -- What this eBook by Lumension lacks in visual interest it makes up for by sharing good information and embedding videos directly in the sidebar. When I interviewed Lumension's Director of Corporate Communications last July about the eBook, it had been downloaded more than 7,000 times.
  • Gear Up for Success: 8 Steps to Get Sales and Marketing Cranking in Unison -- I wrote this eBook for AG Salesworks based on interviews with Ardath Albee, David Meerman Scott, Jill Konrath, Joe Pulizzi, Brian Halligan, and Andrew Briney. Margery Stegman of Schenkel/Stegman Communications Design did an outstanding job coming up with a fun graphic theme and overall design. Since the time the eBook was released in mid-September, it's been downloaded more than 1,000 times.

It's so nice to get recognition for the blogging eBook I did in collaboration with MLT and I have some great news. MLT and I have collaborated on a new and expanded blogging eBook for my upcoming class at Rutgers University. I will have this available free on my site www.businessesGROW as a free download within two weeks. About twice as much material as the first book and three times the fun! : )

Mark,

Ooh - I can't wait to see the new eBook. I loved the first eBook, and I can't wait to see the second one (and, such an important topic).

As I type this comment it is December 1st at 9:26 pm and I am still at work for some crazy reason. It's always for a crazy reason when I work late because this is a crazy business. If I haven't already scared everyone away with my crazy talk, I will continue with my comment. I am so happy to see our eBook mentioned in this post and I almost missed it entirely as my late-night very late comment indicates.

In addition to following the Savvy B2B Sisterhood, I follow Tom Pick and the B2B Marketing Zone. And just before shutting down for the night, I saw his new post on the top 60 B2B blog posts for November. Not surprisingly, several Savvy_B2B posts were among the list. That's when I saw this article and now I can leave a long day at the office with even a bigger smile on my tired face. Thanks for that and thanks also to @MarkWSchaefer, the brains behind our eBook collaboration.
